Working Hard and Paper Towns

I have so much beta reading and critiquing to do that I can't blog for you tonight, my friends. I am terribly sorry.

I don't often do reviews here, but since I'm trying to read 100 books this year, I may throw in a few as a multi-tasking timesaver.

Here are a few words on John Green's Paper Towns. This book is amazing. I can't stop thinking about it. It's the best thing I've read in a LONG time. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed this book. Okay, I'll give it a try. Here's my paragraph review of Paper Towns:

I finished Paper Towns on MLK Day. I couldn't tear myself away from it even though there were other things I wanted to do since I had the day off. It's by far my favorite of Green's three books. Could be in part because I'm a Whitman fan and Leaves of Grass plays a pretty big role in the book. I think it's just that the book is full of awesome though. It was laugh out loud funny in several places, which is always a bonus. I felt like every word had a purpose--every phrase really was there for a reason. Not an easy thing to pull off. Well, maybe not every *single* one, but you know what I mean. Every scene moved the plot forward. The characters were all three-dimensional and really well-drawn. And I'm always learning something new with Green's work. Do you know what a paper town is? I didn't. I just loved everything about this novel.

I love books that grab hold of you like that. I am a big fan of Leaves of Grass, too. Thanks for the review.

No problem, Angie. :) Yes, there's certainly nothing like a really good book. One that really sticks with you.
